D&D brief background – who are we?
D&D Excellence Limited specialises in the use of the EFQM Excellence Model to help organisations wanting to improve their performance. Importantly we believe that the way in which we work aligns strongly with the values reflected in the Excellence Model: it is more than just the ‘mechanics’ of the Model, it is about our values and style of working as well. But here is some background about us.
Dave Richards and Derek Medhurst have been active users of the Excellence Model since 1993. Some of our experience was gained within a large UK-based financial services organisation where, as the Business Excellence Unit for the Group, we helped several parts of the Group achieve Regional and National Award success. Both of us acted as Senior Assessors for the UK Business Excellence Award. We have undertaken the 2010 EFQM Excellence Model Assessor Update training.
We established D&D in January 2000 and have been privileged to help many organisations, across a range of sectors, to make effective use of the Excellence Model as part of their improvement plans. These include manufacturing, construction, aerospace, transport, financial services, local housing, telecommunications, logistics, information systems and chemicals.
We have worked in large and small organisations in the private, public and voluntary sectors including a number of UK government agencies, eg, Small Business Service in the DTI and the Highways Agency. Although based in Kent in the south east of England, our work has taken us to mainland Europe, Africa, the Middle East and USA.
We have created a series of informative case studies which highlight some of the successful areas of work in which we have been involved. These can be viewed via the D&D Services section and will give you some ideas about how we may be able to help you take matters forward.
Individual Success
In 2003 Derek was one of the first two recipients ever of the Personal Recognition Leadership Award from the European Foundation for Quality Management - the only one from the UK. Read a PDF copy of the article from the EFQM News July 2003.
