D&D News December 2005 - Abu Dhabi trip
Yet again Derek's passport has been used since our last update, for our first ever D&D visit to Abu Dhabi.
A major organisation in Abu Dhabi has sought our support for Excellence Model assessor training as part of their ongoing business improvement activities. The business has already had great feedback from local award schemes, with submissions put together by a small number of people. They now want to increase the number of trained assessors to increase the breadth of detailed knowledge about Excellence and engage more people in self-assessment activities. They are really living the idea that the Model is about continuous improvement, not just going for awards.
Derek really enjoyed the Day 1 awareness building session with a great group of people - and he thinks it was not too bad for the participants either. He would like to thank everyone for staying awake and paying attention for the whole day - even during the traditional 'graveyard session' after what turned out to be a particularly sumptuous hotel lunch!
He is looking forward immensely to returning to Abu Dhabi for the second part of the training after the attendees have finished their individual work on the case study. This next session will guide the participants through the consensus building process, help them to understand even more about Excellence and the Model, and we will also be giving some support to their 'next steps' with self-assessment.
Thanks very much to Rachelle, Archana and Eman for their help - without which the workshop would not have happened.
