Feedback comments
"I personally am extremely grateful for the way in which you made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed, throughout the sessions, to the extent that they were able to speak freely about any and every issue. .. I have been trying, . to get some members of the team to open up on some topics at our regular Monday morning breakfast meetings. You managed to achieve it in one weekend. It must be the D&D method, combined with your individual personality, congratulations. Over the next few months we will work on the issues we agreed in order to improve our knowledge performance and efficiency." Mike Harry, Director, ICEL
Approach
- We used the new Excellence Module of the SBS Benchmark Index questionnaire (which D&D had developed earlier in the year) as an input to a self assessment workshop
- The results were analysed and used to help in facilitating the workshop – helping to clarify and investigate issues where necessary
- After consensus on the strengths and areas for improvement, the key AFIs and an approximate scoring level were agreed
- Prioritisation work on the key AFIs was started during the workshop, but was completed by ICEL afterwards, to allow people time to reflect on the issues
Outcomes/benefits
- Understanding of agreed Strengths and Areas for Improvement
- Prioritised improvement actions
- Everyone had a clearer idea of the views of their colleagues
Summary of our role
- Development of the approach for a straightforward assessment method needing little detailed knowledge in advance
- Independent facilitation of assessment workshop to help raising of relevant issues
- Guidance on prioritisation approach for improvement actions
