Site Visits

"As I mentioned last week the real added value for us came from the consultancy provided as you undertook the [site visit] assessment process. Although this undoubtedly made a tough job even tougher for you, your approach has created a tremendous amount of goodwill amongst the management team here. Although it is only three days after your visit, there has been a very significant impact" Nigel Asplin, Centre Manager, Chatham Customer Telephony Centre

Some organisations undertake self assessments using their own resources, but then look for external validation or confirmation that their view has been fair and honest ... that it was done without wearing rose tinted spectacles!

What's involved

An external view can be a very helpful complement to a self-assessment. Whilst everyone using the Model tries their hardest to get a realistic assessment, sometimes people are so close to the issues in their organisation that it can be difficult to be objective. So we can provide an external view.

How we can help

We have developed something of a speciality in conducting site visits to validate an organisation's own views, usually based on a portfolio of evidence.

The underlying 'evidence' will typically be the feedback/results of any of the other self assessment approaches. The duration of the site visit will depend upon the size and geographical representation of the organisation, as well as the comprehensiveness of the evidence. As an example, for a 200-300 person single site unit, two days on site by two people will usually be needed (together with initial preparation and subsequent feedback time).

This service must clearly be tailored specifically for each client, but has proved to be of immense benefit to the many sites we have visited. Especially as we combine the assessment with as much recognition and knowledge transfer as we can sensibly fit in.

Exceptionally, we have very occasionally undertaken a site visit based assessment on what has effectively been a '3rd party' basis, ie, with no prior self-assessment work undertaken by the organisation. This is not the preferred route, as there is a greater danger of the Model being seen as an external 'audit' aimed at catching people out, and we have wanted to be very sure of the circumstances when we have done this sort of thing.
